As we enter the 2014 holiday season, we are again asked to reflect on the things we’re most thankful for. And rightfully so. There are so many things like family, friends, and freedoms to be thankful for. But how many of those freedoms do we still have?
One freedom that we still have the illusion of is the freedom of speech – the First Amendment. That’s right – an illusion of it. Sure we still have more freedom to say what we want than those in Russia or Saudi Arabia. But being better than oppressive communist and sharia-led countries is not what our forefathers intended. Political correctness and the fear of hurting someone’s feelings when we utter a 100% truth has ripped through America faster than a tsunami in the Pacific. No longer are we as focused on the truth as we are about making people feel good about themselves, even though sometimes they shouldn’t!
The one freedom that we do still have – depending on the state you live in – is the freedom to purchase, possess, carry, and use firearms and ammo. But just like the freedom of speech, the freedoms of the firearms community are constantly under attack. We have got to stand firm on protecting our gun rights as billionaires and their misinformed cults make a living off of trying to misinform others to believe we need to chip away at the 2nd Amendment. And just like the 1st Amendment, chipping away at the 2nd a little at a time will result in a complete elimination of what we currently see as a freedom.
The illusion of a freedom that doesn’t exist is far worse than not having one at all because believing that illusion makes us all fools. Be thankful for all your freedoms this holiday season. But be firm in your support of the freedom to purchase, possess, carry, and use firearms and ammo. Be firm in your support of the 2nd Amendment.
