In our first official installment of our “Gun Bullies” series we froze a Windham Weaponry AR1-5 for two full days in a block of ice and then thawed it out and immediately ran 120 steel case rounds through it. After 245 rounds run through it we still have not cleaned or lubricated the weapon. While we didn’t expect the temperature changes to affect the weapons performance since it is made of steel and polymer, we wanted to take advantage of our uncharacteristically cold temps (for Louisiana!) and freeze the thing.
Next up: Submerging in a pond for a week.
GOAL: Our goal is not to try to “break” the weapon, but rather to see how much common abuse the rifle can take.
