derek poeOn December 28, 2013, Derek Poe, owner of Golden Triangle Tactical in the Parkdale Mall IN Beaumont, TX, arrived at his place of business like he always did – carrying the display AR-15 slung over his shoulder. Little did he know that shortly after he got there his perfectly legal rifle would be taken from him (in an open carry state) and he’d later have charges filed against him.

This is not your typical YouTube nerd purposely baiting police in order to get a few cheap hits on his video online. Mr. Poe’s business includes modifying rifles in his store. The rifle he was carrying was the display model that he keeps in his store to show potential customers the work he can do. Not having a display rifle in his store would be like not having cars on a lot where cars are sold.
