VIDEO: Shooting the classic M1 Garand for the first time; the famous “clip ding”
As a long time gun enthusiast, I’ve always wanted to shoot and eventually own my own classic M1 Garand. You know the gun – the one General George S. Patton said was “the greatest battle implement ever devised”. During World War II, the M1 gave U.S. forces a distinct advantage in firefights against their Axis enemies, as their standard-issue rifles were slower-firing bolt-action rifles. The M1 continued to be used in large numbers until 1963 and to a lesser degree until 1976.
Here’s a quick video of us shooting our M1 Garand for the very first time and getting to hear first-hand the famous “clip ding” we’ve all heard in the movies and our heroes of old heard on a regular basis as they fought in WWII and the Korean War. You can tell the excitement by the stupid grin on my face!
