Minnesota and Washington propose Hitler-esque gun searches/seizures
[LEGALLY ARMED AMERICA] As long as no one ever shows up to our homes sporting a full blown Adolf Hitler mustache, we’ll refuse to believe that there’s an actual gun grab effort taking place, right? How many of our friends, family, and co-workers have told us, “Aw, that’ll never happen here! You’re just being paranoid.” Well, hold on to your Lugers, troopers, because formal legislation is being proposed to not only take our self defense weapons (we refuse to call them “assault weapons”), but to come into our homes as well.
Minnesota opposes self defense weapons!
Minnesota recently proposed strict legislation (H.F. No. 241, as introduced – 88th Legislative Session (2013-2014)) that would give you the OPTION to get rid of your self defense weapon by sending it out of Minnesota, surrender the weapon to law enforcement, or render the weapon permanently inoperable. So, a state is pushing me to give or sell my self defense weapon as quickly as possible to avoid losing money I spent purchasing it. How many of these quickly fall into felons’ hands? Now the criminals in Minnesota immediately will have their “assault weapons” stash (they are “assault weapons” when criminals have them) boosted at rock bottom prices. Just like the lack of self defense weapons in the legal market has driven the cost of these weapons up, criminals will offer peanuts in Minnesota because the market will be flooded with them. Or you could either give your weapons away to law enforcement with no compensation or just destroy it yourself…for free. Here’s an excerpt from the proposed legislation:
Sec. 7. PERSONS POSSESSING ASSAULT WEAPONS ON EFFECTIVE DATE
10.21 OF ACT; REQUIRED ACTIONS.
10.22 Any person who, on February 1, 2013, legally owns or is in possession of an assault
10.23 weapon has until September 1, 2013, to do any of the following without being subject to
10.24 prosecution under Minnesota Statutes, section 624.7133:
10.25(1) remove the weapon from the state;
10.26(2) surrender the weapon to a law enforcement agency for destruction;
10.27(3) render the weapon permanently inoperable; or
10.28(4) if eligible, register the weapon as provided in Minnesota Statutes, section
10.29624.7133, subdivision 5.
10.30EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
Washington state wants to enter our homes to search for self defense weapons!
Lawmakers in Washington recently proposed some of the most intrusive and Hitler-esque laws ever that includes coming into our homes once a year to check on how we’re storing our self defense weapons. The proposed bill, Senate Bill 5737, would ban the sale and transfer of self defense weapons and magazines for them that contain more than 10 rounds. It would also subject legal gun owners to random annual searches by a county sheriff. First, we’d have to register our self defense weapons, making it illegal to posses or own one that’s not registered. Then officials would have the right to randomly enter our homes once a year to either confirm that we still have our registered self defense weapons and have not transferred them or to make sure we’ve properly stored them “securely”. Here’s some of the language proposed:
“In order to continue to possess an assault weapon that was legally possessed on the effective date of this section, the person possessing shall … safely and securely store the assault weapon. The sheriff of the county may, no more than once per year, conduct an inspection to ensure compliance with this subsection.”
This means locking them up so that they’re hard to get to when that meth head kicks your door in at 2:00 am. But at least the local legislators who proposed this will be safe…with their armed guards carrying self defense weapons. The good news is the law would ONLY allow the state’s Storm Troopers to violate your privacy and Constitutional rights once a year. Yay!
